Ki Sung-Yueng kept a cool head when called upon last night and slotted the ball home two minutes from the end of the Capital One cup tie win over Chelsea at the Stadium of Light.

The strike won the game for the Black Cats who had fallen behind in the 46th minute to a goal that could have been either a Lee Cattermole own goal or a chalk up for Frank Lampard, it was hard to tell.

Just moments before Ki hit the late winner for Sunderland, he saw a header brilliantly saved by Schwarzer when the ball looked in all the way.

But the Chelsea keeper was helpless when in the 118th minute Ki picked up a pass from Borini in the area, cut in and drilled a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Before that, in the final two minutes of normal time and with Chelsea looking like they were going to progress to the semi`s that man Borino came up with another important goal when he fired home from a tight angle.

But Ki was the man who stole the limelight when he grabbed his first goal in thirteen appearances for Sunderland since he moved to the Stadium of Light from Swansea on loan.

He said after the game: ‘It was just unbelievable, I didn’t expect to score but I am really pleased to help the team go through.”

Must admit, was not holding out much hope, but what a comeback! Pity there was only half a stadium full to watch it.

Being on the TV and hardly anyone expecting a win was the reason for the low crowd, but the win has renewed my faith in the lads, they didn’t give up and got their reward. Bring on Naaaarrrrwich
