Sunderland’s wantaway Wahbi Khazri has tonight joined French Ligue 1 side Rennes on a loan spell.
The extremely brief statement from Sunderland explains that the 26 year old has signed on with Rennes for the remainder of the 2017/18 season.
The Tunisian heads back to France having joined Sunderland from Bordeaux before our relegation left him not wanting to play in the Championship.
There’s no confirmation on whether or not Rennes have a buy clause in the deal for January or next summer but the standard media line is it’s a straight loan deal and nothing more.
