Roy Keane has admitted that he is set to bolster his squad come January.

The Sunderland manager was only in the job several days when he made his first 6 signings as a manager – bringing in David Connolly, Graham Kavanagh, Liam Miller, Stan Varga, Ross Wallace and Dwight Yorke, making him the busiest manager on deadline day.

And having brought in Lewin Nyatanga on loan from Derby and got rid of Jon Stead, Rory Delap, Andy Welsh and Clive Clarke, the boss has admitted that he more players are set to arrive, and leave, in what are only the early stages of major restructuring of the club playing staff.

Keane revealed: ‘We are always looking to bring in new players who will improve the squad.

‘And there will possibly be money available for me to spend in January.

‘But, with the backing from the board, comes responsibility because we haven’t got unlimited millions to spend.

‘Even in the last transfer window, we didn’t spend as much as perhaps some people thought we might.

‘I’m always looking to bring in players who can take us to where we want to go, not just signing people willy-nilly.’
