Roy Keane is facing further injury problems after it emerged that experienced midfielder Graham Kavanagh will be out for 4 to 6 weeks.

The Republic of Ireland international has played in every game under Roy Keane since signing from Wigan on transfer deadline day.

However, after a knee cartilage injury sustained in the 3-1 loss to Ipswich, Kavanagh is now added to Keane’s lengthy injury list.

After pulling out of the Irish international side, Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton revealed the extent of the injury,

‘Graham requires a cartilage operation so he will be out for 4 to 6 weeks and is touch and go for the home game against San Marino on November 15.

‘He is one of our experienced players so he will be a loss but that`s why we named such a big squad in the first place and we also have the option of calling up other players.’

Grant Leadbitter, Arnau Riera and Tommy Miller will be hoping Kavanagh’s injury gives them a chance to push for a starting place.
