Sunderland target Younes Kaboul has snubbed a move to Wearside after his agent Rudy Raba confirmed Kaboul`s decision.

Sunderland manager Roy Keane was starting to lose patience with the Spurs duo by demanding a decision within 24 hours.

Kaboul`s agent Rudy Raba told the Sunderland Echo “He wants to go to Portsmouth – he would prefer to go there,”

“Sunderland wanted to know within 24 hours but, while he is thankful to Roy Keane for his interest, the boy has decided he does not want to go there.”

Vital Sunderland Says

If he doesn`t want to sign then we don`t need him even if he has the potential to turn into a very good defender.

Kaboul has alwas wanted to come to Portsmouth and would probably fit in better here than he would in Sunderland. We have at least 4 other French Players (no language problems then). Also geographically, it makes sense as its nearer to home for hi. Finally, as you have pointed out elsewhere, he is a player “with potential” and you need a player who can get on with the job now. He will be great for us, because I imagine he will eventually replace Sol Campbell. So in the long run, I think it is for the best all round. (Thats if we can find the money to buy him – we’re boracic down here apparently)!

Doesn’t matter guys, you got Steeeeeeeed instead, great player will be a Sunderland legend for you, gives 100% every game, will play anywhere, can tackle and run at defenders, was sickened to see him leave, especially so soon after Robbie.our 2 best players last season leave 2 days apart!Sad times.Anyways good luck to Steed,i will definitely have a soft spot for Sunderland next season with so many ex Spurs on the team!
