International SAFC Round Up

After a brilliant week for Henderson who created the second goal in the amazing 3-0 away victory to Chelsea, he also played the full 90 minutes for England in their 2-1 defeat to France tonight.

Henderson, who in my opinion, was played in the wrong position tonight in front of the back four was quiet for most of the game. Henderson has and always will be an attacking midfielder or winger in my eyes.

In the opening ten minutes Jordan looked very composed and made a few important tackles to lead to some attacks for his Country.

As France grew in belief and class, Henderson looked a little lost in the middle of the park but still maintained his accurate passing through out the game.

In the second half he got booked for a sloppy tackle but grew more and more into his stride for England. He nearly created a consolation goal with a lovely slide ball pass to Milner but the Man City midfielder got the ball stuck between his feet.

Overall a very good night for Jordan who will learn a lot from this game and will head back to Wearside with a new confidence as a midfielder.

Also on international duty, Gyan played in a 0-0 draw for Ghana and Christian Riveros scored as Paraguay lashed Hong Kong 7-0 in a friendly.

Egypt are currently leading 3-0 against Australia with Elmohammady creating a superb opening goal.

Elmo who started the break in the right back position, played a wonderful one-two with the winger before drilling in a low cross for a simple tap in.

Long may the form of our new crop of international stars continue!

disappointing from all of England Fabio got it wrong and didn’t play Henderson right, in fact the whole team Carroll looked lost and didn’t get the support from wide players who were playing on the wrong side, the midfield had as much backbone as the Lib Dems and the defence was weaker than a cup of smart price tea. The experienced players didn’t do the new lads any favours and there was a lack of passion to the team you could tell this was a payday match and nothing else lets hope the 85000 fans feel proud after forking out for the obese chairmen at the FA to have an even bigger christmas do this year!

Totally agree with the article. Henderson played ridculously out of position and on his debut? The management is just ridiculous.

He completed the most passes in midfield during the 90 minutes he played, Cappello was also impressed with Hendo as he was told to always stay behind the half way line and never cross it. He did that so GOD KNOWS what player Cappello thinks he is as defensive midfielder….he is not!
