Sunderland have their fingers cross that they will see a return of Adam Johnson and Lee Cattermole for the game against Burnley this weekend.

‘We`ve got lot of games coming up and now we have a player who is suspended so someone will have to jump in.’ – Gus Poyet

The game is being billed as the Black Cat’s most important game of the season so fat and Gus Poyet is hoping to use it as a springboard to go onto better things.

But Burnley are emerging out of the darkness and are putting together a mini fightback after they had a poor start to the season and they of course will be wanting to take the opportunity of beating Sunderland and moving away from the drop zone.

Having Johnson and Cattermole back would be seen as a major boost with both players having found their best form in some time just a few short weeks ago, Cattermole verging on being the player of the season so far.

Cattermole has been out for a few weeks with a knee complaint and Johnson missed last week with a calf injury. Wes Brown has also been in the wars and he is a bigger doubt for making the Burnley game.

“We need the players to be ready,” Poyet told www.safc.com/.

“We`ve got lot of games coming up and now we have a player (Jack Rodwell) who is suspended so someone will have to jump in.

“I would like to say Adam Johnson will be back (on Saturday); we`ll have to wait on Wes and see what happens over the next few days.”
