Sunderland’s Swedish midfielder, Tobias Hysen, did well as a striker in last night’s reserve win over Doncaster and is now being considered for the role against Ipswich on Saturday.

The summer signing, from Swedish champions Djurgardens, set the Stadium Of Light alight against Leicester last Saturday when he came off the bench to score what turned out to be a goal that gained us a point.

The influential 25-year-old, created two goals in last night’s impressive reserve win over Doncaster.

With Stephen Elliot [ankle], Daryl Murphy [hamstring], Jon Stead [thigh] and David Connolly [thigh] all out through injury, Hysen is almost certainly in contention for a starting place up front.

‘I’ve played there before,’ he said. ‘I think I play my best on the left but I will play up front if asked.’

Keane said: ‘We are low on strikers but you just have to get on with it, it happens in football.’
