Adam Johnson gets his big chance to impress England manager Roy Hodgson when Sunderland take on Hull City at the weekend.

Hodgson is said to be coming along to take in how Tom Huddlestone is doing and have a good look at how Johnson is performing after hearing good things about him.

Johnson will have no better chance of getting into the squad that goes to Brazil for the World Cup what with Theo Walcott and Andros Townsend both out of the friendly with Denmark next month.

Johnson has played twice under Hodgson before but has not had the rub of the green, the first time he played against Norway and then only made stand by for the Euro 2012 competition.

He then played in a friendly against Italy ahead of the World Cup qualifiers but withdrew from the squad and has not been considered since.

But since Gus Poyet has been in charge at the Stadium of Light, Johnson has been back to his old self and many believe that he is worth giving another shot to.
