Should Sam Allardyce take over as England’s new manager, the favourite to take over the reigns at Sunderland will be Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson announced his retirement from the England post after a humiliating exit to Euro 2016 at the hands of Iceland. Big Sam is now the favourite to take over the running of the national side and if that happens, then Hodgson is the favourite to take over at the Stadium of Light.

There is a report that says that although Allardyce still has a year on his current contract, there is a clause in his agreement that allows him to leave should England come calling.

Allardyce has received a lot of backing from various sources, David Bernstein, Kevin Davies, Jermain Defoe and Harry Redknapp have all given their support.

Sunderland losing Allardyce to England and Hodgson coming to the Stadium of Light are both seen as 6/1 chances by Ladbrokes.
