Jordan Henderson has continued his rich vein of form by scoring his first international goal and receiving the Man of The Match award after beating Macedonia 2-1 in the U-21 set up tonight.

It will be a huge boost for the Sunderland born midfielder who has so far been one of The Black Cats consistent players so far this season.

However, tonight he took is up another level, his all round performance and consistency throughout the game shone, as well as his confidence by attempting audacious shots from outside the 18-yard box.

His passing was also crisp, neat and direct, something that Sunderland fans hope to see for the duration of the season.

In all honesty, Henderson looked comfortable in his position, unlike his more famous team mate Jack Wilshire, who looked isolated and continually pressed by opposition.

The highlight had to be the 25-yard volley Henderson lashed home, it was hit with finesse, powering but dipping venomously on its way in , very Paul Scholes-like.

On loan striker Danny Welbeck was also in the starting line up but couldn`t continue his England U-21 form and was later substituted in the second half.

There will be obvious talk that Sunderland`s number ten will be called up to the senior squad, that alone will be a massive achievement, it`s all down to Fabio, who was at the game this evening.

It`s over to you Mr Capello?
