Vital Sunderland spoke to the head organiser of the scheme to bring more colour, noise and flags to the Stadium of Light Nick666.

> 1) What made you become part of this group? Has it been something you have always wanted to get going for the Stadium of Light crow and atmosphere

Nick: My involvement came from trying to make a tribute banner for Niall Quinn. Julio from Ready To Go message board started a thread and everyone chipped in with ideas and designs. Becoming involved with Martyn McFadden, Tom Lynn and David Marjoram was a great move as it allowed us to bounce our ideas together and take them directly to SAFC to get approval. They were on the same page as the RTG group after suggesting the need to add flags to enhance the atmosphere in ALS fanzine articles. It made sense to join forces and thus the Ha`way The Flags concept was born! .

> 2) What do you feel this fan run scheme will bring to the atmosphere?

Nick: To some the scheme it wont make a difference which is cool, some will appreciate the efforts and respect what we are doing and some will be totally buzzing by it.
The most exciting thing about the project is that it`s open to those who contribute. Anyone who supports the lads can submit their designs which will end up being made into a flag or banner.

> 3) Have you been surprised by how quick you have raised £2700+?

Nick: Yeah it`s been overwhelming really, such a great response and I am happy that there was lots of positive feedback from the recent pictures of the surfer. Everyone who has donated should be really pleased with them selves. Excellent stuff.

> 4) The surfer crowd and banner are now donated for by the fans. What happens next and what have the club advised?

Nick: We are working very closely with the club, liaising through emails and following up with meetings etc. We want to make sure everything gets off the ground and all our hard work pays off so we are listening carefully to SAFC requests.

> 5) What kind of flags and banners will come next for other games do you think?

Nick: The class thing is that the Sunderland supporters will decide. We will open the project up to take designs from fans and then let the best design win by way of vote.
Hopefully future projects will be based on the success of what`s happening on the pitch!

> 6) Have you noticed the banners and flags beginning to take shape in the SWC? What message would you tell all the fans to get more flags into the stadium?

Nick: Yeah I love the flags in the SWC. The SFG were the first to bring original designs into the ground and are continuing to create mint new ones. In a few seasons there should be a great selection of designs all round the stadium.

I would recommend everyone dig deep and get their flags and banners out, wave your scarfs about and I would also hope everyone has a sore throat on Monday after cheering the lads on to and excellent result!
