Gyan, who has only made appearances from the bench for Sunderland will make his first start since his £13m move this Summer.
Bruce informed he will start alongside Bent as Sunderland look to recover from the 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Newcastle last weekend.
Bruce said: ‘Gyan will play. He has waited patiently for his chance and now is the right time.
‘He is a big player. We’ve let him gently bed in and get used to being here, and it’s about time we unleashed him and see what he’s got.’
Hopefully Bruce has noticed that 4-5-1 did not work at St. James Park and by going with Bent and Gyan we can create more chances and score more goals.

As much as I love this news does Bruce really have to hand the team sheet to the press a week before the match
