Sunderland went 13 games before someone other than Gyan or Bent scored but the record signing is happy with his teamwork.

He is excited that he is finally getting minutes with Darren Bent and as long as this can continue he predicts happy times on Wearside up front.

Gyan said: “Against Wolves, I played a couple of minutes with him (Bent) and it worked a bit, I made an assist and he got a great finish,” said the 25-year-old.

“I hope it continues. We need to get used to the partnership. We`re getting on well although we don`t normally play together in training.

“We`re normally on different sides, playing with other people.

“But I hope it continues in the matches. We need to see how the partnership works.”

After his wonderful assist on Sunday he is hopeful he can also add to his assist against Wolves also.

Gyan said: “It`s a team game. Personally I don`t think of scoring on my own all the time.

“Sometimes, in hectic times, you have to set up other people to score.

“If you have it in your mind that you`re the only person who is going to score it`s not going to work that way. You are playing as a team, it`s a collective work.

“If I don`t score I make sure someone else does and the team gets better.

“It`s great that the goals are starting to be spread out a bit more.

“As a team, individuals need to be scoring because if one person keeps on scoring the team doesn`t go anywhere.”

Sunderland head to Fulham on Saturday looking to cement their claims to finish in the top 10 this season.

The club`s record signing added: “We knew we needed a win to stabilise in seventh place.

“We lost the previous week and we had to come back so the win over West Ham was important to us.

“We are looking at the league table now and looking to win a lot of games. At the end of the season, we will see where we are. We are not looking at a specific position.”
