Gyan: Happy Waiting For Bruce Nod

Scoring two goals in only two hours of football is not a bad start for record signing Asamoah Gyan, but he is looking forward to getting his career underway under Steve Bruce this season.

Gyan, 24, who signed for £13m from French club Rennes, has started brightly for Sunderland and helped them gain a point against Manchester last weekend.

Gyan told BBC Newcastle today: ‘It’s amazing, I really like the crowd, since I came here everything is moving on well.

‘I scored on my debut [at Wigan] and people were happy for me, and I hope it continues.

‘It boosts the confidence when people are behind you, you can give you maximum to make sure people are happy.

‘I’m here to do my best and make Sunderland go places.’

He is happy for Bruce to take his time to settle him into the squad and appreciates he needed to wait as the games against Arsenal and Liverpool may have came too early for the Ghanaian.

Gyan added: ‘Bruce knows what he is doing.

‘He has seen that my fitness levels are not up to standard, so he did not want to put pressure on me.

‘We’ve played big games with this formation and things are going well for the coach, and the way the team are playing things are going well.

‘I’m getting used to it, I’m getting back to my fitness level.’

Gyan will be looking to start his debut for Sunderland at Ewood Park on the 18th October and shine on the Sky cameras for his new club.
