Gus Poyet was not the happiest of managers after watching his side go down 2-1 at White Hart Lane, he was upset about the Black Cats not being awarded a penalty.
Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe was making his debut for Sunderland on his old stomping ground and he had a very strong claim for a penalty turned down after a block in the area by Jan Vertonghen.
Poyet told reporters: ‘He started brightly and if he had got the penalty he would have scored. The ref didn’t see what everyone else in the ground saw.’
Defoe won the free kick from which Sebastian Larsson brilliantly equalised Vertonghen’s opener, but Christian Eriksen won it for Spurs two minutes from time.
Hey, we don’t have anyone playing for us called Sam Vertonghen.
I suppose the Vertonghen goal that was wrongly disallowed annoys a few Spurs players and staff as well!! The fans are not too happy either!
Who the feck cares about a disallowed spurs goal? None of us, go chill out and have some bacon
