Manager Simon Grayson has confirmed there will be changes to Sunderland’s line up when we travel to Everton in the League Cup.

We make the trip to Goodison Park on Wednesday for the third round tie against Ronald Koeman’s side and Ty Browning and Brendan Galloway are instantly ruled out as per the terms of their loan agreements which mean they cannot face their parent clubs.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media today for his pre game press conference, Koeman confirmed there would be changes to the side, some would be enforced obviously, but others would be by choice as he gave some a rest and others the opportunity to impress.

‘There will be a few of changes from Saturday. Some are forced due to injuries and others are chomping at the bit to get into the team, so the team we put out will be one that wants to win the game against an Everton team that are desperate to win as well.’

For Browning and Galloway, we did apply for permission for the to feature but Everton apparently were unwilling to grant that dispensation.

‘They haven`t been granted permission to play.’

James Vaughan is however raring to go following a bout of illness.

‘James Vaughan was ill on Thursday and Friday but he`s more or less recovered now, and there`s been a few bumps and bruises along the way. If anybody`s a doubt then they won`t play because of the importance of next week.’

There was also an update on Josh Maja, Duncan Watmore and Aiden McGeady.

‘Duncan will play again at the weekend against West Ham United and Josh Maja is back on the grass running, so we expect him to be back with us after the international weekend. And we hope Duncan will be back around that time as well. Aiden McGeady is very close to being back with us.’
