Gray set for Leeds…

Sunderland striker Andy Gray seems set for a loan move to Leeds after a disappointing Premiership season at Sunderland.

The former Sheffield United striker has attracted plenty of interest from Championship clubs, with Derby and Burnley also previously interested, however it now seems that he is all set to finally leave Sunderland, at least temporarily.

Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell is keen to bring the striker in as cover for the remaining games of the season, as his side look to put real pressure on Sheffield United for the final automatic promotion spot

While Sunderland caretaker boss Kevin Ball has insisted all players start from scratch with him and all places are up for grabs, it seems Gray would prefer to look for a move elsewhere.

And with moves to Derby and Burnley not materialising, Gray was left out of the reserves squad last night (the game was eventually called off), as precaution. It seems that Sunderland are just as keen to get rid.

Despite his failings at Premiership level, Gray has a decent strike rate at Championship level, and considering that is where Sunderland will be playing their football next season, it remains to be seen whether releasing a player they spent £1.1m on only last summer will be the right decision.
