Striker Danny Graham looks to have played his last game for Sunderland after he was not included in the squad that flies out to Portugal on Friday.

Graham has been on the transfer list for a while with an asking price of one million has not been helped by the fact that he has missed the pre-season games so far with a back injury.

Graham would have faced competition for a place up front with Steven Fletcher, Connor Wickham and Jozy Altidore and maybe Fabio Borini, the reason he was sent out on loan last season.

Poyet told reporters: “Danny has had a spasm in his back. He hasn`t trained for five days.

“I was trying to play him in one of the three games this week.

“But I`m not taking the whole squad to Portugal. There are people who are going to stay here.

“Danny is one of them.

“As everyone knows, we`ve got Fletch, Jozy and Connor, plus Fabio (Borini) if he comes in.

“It will be very difficult for Danny to be part of that group.”

Three other players not travelling to Portugal are Modibo Diakite, Cabral and Alfred N`Diaye.
