Gordon Lines Up For Reserves

Steve Bruce will be happy with the return of Craig Gordon this afternoon after losing Ferdinand, Richardson and Mensah in the defence department recently.

Gordon nearly made a dramatic debut at Anfield in the closing stages as Simon Mignolet was injured after a collision in the penalty area. Gordon who was ready to step into the firing line was not used by Bruce as Mignolet recovered to earn Sunderland a well deserved point.

The Scottish keeper, who has been out since May with a fractured arm, will be hoping to gain some fitness against Villa today at the Bodymoor Heath training ground.

Maybe based on form he will find it hard to walk back into the team after a great season so far from the belgian U21 keeper Mignolet.

Great to see that Gordon has recovered from his injury but he is going to need to be in the form of his life if he is to have any chance of regaining the top spot from Mignolet, who i must say has been brilliant in the first few games of the season.

Seems Gordon always has his work cut out for him when he comes back from injury but we know the quality he has lets hope he gets back in the swing of things and we see him inbetween the sticks come xmas time
