Former Keeper Taking A Break

Marton Fulop is “taking a break” from the game while he recovers from the removing of a tumour from his arm.

The 30-year-old former Sunderland keeper, who had an impressive season in Greece with Asteras Tripoli last time round, released a statement that confirmed his intention to recover “physically and mentally” for a few months and then make his return to the game.

Fulop said he didn’t want to “put a club’s management in such an awkward situation that they have to deal with my problem” and that is why he is taking this break, but has been told he can continue to train during his post-op treatment courses.

The Hungarian international played for Sunderland 50 times and I’m sure will be wished well in his recovery.
