David Healy Sunderland`s other new signing came of the bench to score them an extra time winner at the City Ground. Sunderland therefore go into the cup draw for the third round this Saturday.

The first half was a bit of none event with a most of the play happening in midfield with only Cisse chance been the only real chance of the half.

Cisse latched onto a great through ball from Cisse he then unleashed a powerful low drive to Smith`s left only for him to pull off a great save to tip the shot on to the post.

The second half was similar to the first but Sunderland managed conceded a freekick on the edge of the area when Nosworthy fell Earnshaw.

Earnshaw took the resulting freekick and scored with a pinpoint curling shot into the top corner of Gordon net.

Sunderland pushed forward to get the equaliser but failed to find the finishing in front of goal until Bardsley scramble home the equaliser eight minutes from time.

Millers long range shot was parried by Smith and Diouf cut the ball back across the face of goal for Bardsley to tap in at close range.

Sunderland had to wait until extra time to settle the fixture with new signing David Healy scoring the winner.

Leadbitter tested Smith with another good shot for him to also parry this shot. Healy was on hand to dispatch the rebound to hand Sunderland the win and him his first goal for the club.

We scraped a win from a good passing side and if they had some decent strikers they could have beaten us.
