Black Cats’ striker Steven Fletcher has won the September ‘Player of the Month’ award for the Barclays Premier League.

The striker has settled into life at the Stadium of Light immediately, scoring five goals in his first six games for the club.

Indeed, the former Wolves hitman’s form has seen him draw a blank just once – in the Manchester City defeat on Saturday.

Fletcher’s fine form at the Stadium of Light has also seen Scotland manager Craig Levein put his long-running feud with the striker behind him and re-call the 25 year-old.

Speaking to safc.com, Fletcher said of the accolade:

“I`m obviously pleased with the award but results are more important.

“To stay unbeaten in September was a real positive for the lads and I`m pleased I grabbed a few goals as well.”

Congratulations, Steven!
