Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher looks set to join French outfit Marseille.

The 28 year old is on his way to France to tie up the move to the Ligue 1 side, Sky Sports News reports.

Fletcher, who is out of contract in the summer, joined the Black Cats from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2012. At the time he cost the club £12 million.

He went on to make 108 appearances in the red and white stripes scoring 23 goals while going about it, but lately under current manager Sam Allardyce, he has found it hard to get into the starting X1.

The move is seen as an exercise to get another player off the sizeable wage bill after the club acquired the services of new signings Steve Harper, Jan Kirchhoff, Lamine Kone, Wahbi Khazri and Dame N`Doye.

Been speaking to some Mackems that are not pleased with this move. I say I hope we get a good fee for him becase the goals he has score in the last two or three seasons have been few and far between. 12million….Wolves saw us coming a mile away
