Craig Gordon had an inspired season for Sunderland and after he collided with Jermain Defoe he needed a metal plate in his arm decided to have this removed after the season ended.
Gordon will be looking to use the approaching pre season with a fully fit arm and renewed optimism for the start of the 2010/11 season.
Andy Reid is also looking to put last season behind him after missing games since February through a calf problem.
Reid will look to step up his fitness after a successful operation means he can start his training from next week to give the dquad a large boost.
