Onouha, who has been with Man City since he was 14 years old revealed it was tough to leave his boyhood club.

He does believe it was the right choice to make and feels comfortable with Sunderland as they aim to win consecutive games as they face Everton on Sky tomorrow.

He told the Sunday Mirror:

‘It was difficult leaving City. In pre-season I didn’t think I was going to be in Roberto Mancini’s 25-man squad, so it was a case of staying and playing in the reserves or hopefully someone wanting you to be in their squad or side for the season.

‘I did leave City with a heavy heart, because I never expected myself to leave to be honest. I’d been there so long, since I was 10, and I had the feeling I could be in the side.

‘But I wasn’t – so you have the moment when you say, ‘You have to do this, you have to move on’. It was a sad time.

‘Thankfully Sunderland came in and once they did it was a bit of a no-brainer. This is a new home for me, so I can’t complain at all. It has worked out very well.

‘Steve Bruce put some faith in me and said that he wanted me to be a big part of his season. You can’t say no to that, can you?

‘If City were to sell me, this is definitely a place I would consider coming back to because I’m really enjoying it.

‘A lot of the players here are of a similar age with similar ambitions, so it’s a great place to be.’

Here is hoping to Ellis Short, Niall Quinn and Steve Bruce taking advantage of these words and land him in January.

well if the lad wants to come we’ll we would be delighted to have him, but I can see the Man City staff being sneeky with this one and saying he gets used as a make weight for Henderson or we don’t get him at all, the same goes for Welbeck at Man U lets just hope there happy with the money.

Guys, I always said that if Nedum had not been on a season-long injury, he would have been in City’s first team ahead of Richards. I’m delighted he’s doing well for Sunderland and hope if he does decide City’s no longer for him that he elects to stay with you. Quality player, quality lad from a quality family. He won’t let you down.

My worry is that ‘Money Bags’ City will ask for too much when trying to offload him. If they would agree a fee of around 4-5 Mil then I think we are up for it, but City have a big coffer to fill and will push to the limits of maybe 8-9 mil. Far too much for us to pay. Get REAL MAn City!

He is a 8-9million player and I could see them asking more but a loss wont phase them and I think they know they can’t have a upset player in the dressing room thats why we may see a lot of these world class bench warmers like Lescott, Bridge and SWP shipped out on the cheap come January due to the backroom staff trying to keep too many egos in check, it only takes one muppet and the whole squad can gt sucked in. Hopefully this will help us buy him at a more affordable price especially as Mr Short is tightening the purse strings.
