Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe believes that Jermain Defoe is the best finisher he has ever seen.

Defoe and Howe shared the same dressing room and the pitch at Bournemouth when Defoe was on loan o the south coast outfit from West Ham in 2000/01.

Defoe helped Bournemouth out during his loan spell by netting 19 times before going on to make a name for himself in an England shirt.

Howe was regularly up against Defoe in training with the Cherries and ahead of the game between Bournemouth and Sunderland, he has given his players a warning as to what they might expect

Speaking to the MailOnline he said: ‘He is the best finisher of a ball I’ve ever seen. ‘We will have to keep him quiet, that will make the difference on Saturday.

‘We are under no illusions that these games are huge for us. They could set a platform for the rest our season. We know that.’

He added: ‘They were unlucky to lose to Tottenham last week. They have a number of good players and a strong manager. They will pose a big threat on Saturday.’
