Sunderland are now looking for a new director of football after Roberto de Fanti was given the boot on Friday night.
De Fanti was responsible for the splashing out that Paolo Di Canio did just before the start of the season which saw the Italian bring in 14 new faces without helping the club onto better things.
This lead to Di Canio becoming the first managerial casualty in the Premier league this season and now, just a few months later, de Fanti suffers the same fate.
A club statement read: ‘Sunderland AFC has announced that the club has parted company with director of football Roberto De Fanti.
‘The club would like to place on record it’s thanks to Roberto and wishes him well for the future.’
