Sunderland have snapped up experienced Goalkeeper Nick Colgan on a free transfer. Colgan, who`s 34, was recently released by Ipswich and is expected to provide competition for Craig Gordon, Martin Fulop and Darren Ward.
Colgan is a Republic of Ireland International who can count Chelsea, Hibernian, Millwall, Grimsby, Crewe, Reading, Brentford and Barnsley as former clubs
Colgan told safc.com “It`s a huge challenge which I`m really looking forward to.”
“I got the call from the gaffer and he gave me 24 hours to think about it, but I think it took me about 24 seconds to decide!”
“He told me he wants to carry a good squad of goalkeepers and it`s my job to bring my experience to the other keepers and to add some pressure on them and keep them on their toes, and I`m looking forward to getting started.”
Vital Sunderland Says
Could Colgan be extra cover or could he be a replacement for one of our current back up keepers?
Anyway I sure he will be a good addition to the squad
