Sunderland are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Sunderland in the two nil victory over Burton Albion at the weekend at the Pirelli Stadium was enough to earn Coleman a place as manager of the most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Coleman was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Two late goals gave new Sunderland manager Coleman his first win in charge of the club, as the men from the Stadium of Light won 2-0 at Burton Albion to earn the EFL Result of the Day. James Vaughan, introduced in the second half, struck in the 84th minute, before fellow substitute Joel Asoro teed up George Honeyman to seal all three points. The win was the Black Cats’ first since 13th August, and lifted them off the bottom of the table and into 22nd position.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Coleman for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

David Forde (Cambridge United), Luke Waterfall (Lincoln City), Liam Cooper (Leeds United), Sean Morrison (Cardiff City), Albert Adomah (Aston Villa), Hiram Boateng (Exeter City), Max Power (Wigan Athletic), Josh Morris (Scunthorpe United), Dominic Samuel (Blackburn Rovers), Matej Vydra (Derby County), Ivan Cavaleiro (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

Manager – Chris Coleman (Sunderland).
