Despite reported interest from Sunderland and Newcastle, Celtic have told unhappy Virgil van Dijk that he WILL be staying with the club.

The Dutchman has been left in no doubt that no matter what offers come in, he will still be a Celtic player after the deadline passes tonight at 11 O’Clock.

The defender was left out of yesterday`s 1-1 draw at Dundee so that he could ‘clear his head’ after being told he could not leave.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila said to the Daily Express: “There has been a lot of speculation and a lot of thinking for him (Van Dijk).

“He is a very important player for us, a very good player – and we have told him that there is no chance he is going to leave.

“He is too important to us, so there is no chance we will let him go during this window. We couldn`t replace him.

“So he is going to stay here’.
