Lee Cattermole has now been sent off twice already this season. If that was said after half the season it would be disappointing but this is after 4 games!
Lee’s latest calamity came just halfway through the first half when having already been booked, albeit harshly, by ref Andre Marriner, he then chased Hugo Rodallega across half of the pitch then stupidly went to ground failing to get the ball and fouling the Wigan man. Marriner brandished the red card.
Steve Bruce has rightly kept a lid on his anger publicly but he will no doubt be seething about the situation given we can’t afford to lose bite in central midfield nor the influence of the team captain.
Cattermole was criticised for his sending off in the first game of the season but he has failed to heed the advice, which even World Cup Final referee, Howard Webb has given out. This is why I believe Bruce should punish Cattermole by banishing him to the Reserves until Derby day.
Yes, we may be short of a combative midfielders until then, in 5 games time, but Cristian Riveros can do a job there for now and I think that an extended spell out of the limelight will help Cattermole reassess his playing style. A return in the Tyne Wear Derby would focus the mind and be an ideal arena to repay the Sunderland fans who are now getting on the lads back.

I d take the captaincy from him and dock him a months wages we can’t progress in the league if we play over half of the games with 10 men and our captains the plonker getting sent off. fit him back into what he was doing last season.
If we consider that he cost us 3 points against Birmingham and as has been suggested on Salut Sunderland he cost us 3 points against Wigan. Add 4 points and we woule be ahead of Man Utd. Yes, a spell on the bench is a must. Also a fine makes sense. Riveros is a better option with Henderson. Cracking strike by Gyan, with a lovely cross from Jordan, a small assist by Steed in the build up. With Bolo Zenden as midfield cover Clattermole should fall way down the pecking order.

Be fair Johnney with 10 men we were beating you and you had to get a lucky deflection just to equilise now if we were beating you with a disadvantage I think its fair to say we could of took all 3 points with 11 vs 11 maybe its you who is deluding yourself.

well you can’t live on what ifs the facts were it was a draw Wigan had to rely on a late minute goal to scrape a draw vs 10 men.
