Catts Back On Track

Cattermole who was forced off with knee ligament damage in the 1-0 victory over Liverpool has been vital in our recent success and Bruce has realised this by adding: ‘You don’t like to heap too much pressure or expectation on one player, especially one who is still quite young, but I think you saw at Wigan and Fulham how much we missed Catts.

‘It’s not just the way he goes about his own job, it’s the fact his attitude rubs off on the ones about him.

‘We said when he got injured, ‘let’s see how good we are without Catts’.

‘The evidence in some of the games has been that we haven’t been quite as good. We’ve only won once without him.

‘Talking that way puts a bit of pressure on him, but he relishes that and can’t wait to get back.’

Cattermole returning from this injury will not be rushed back into action but with the heavily congested fixture list in December he could be back before the Blackburn away game on 28th December.

This is great news as Sunderland also discovered that defender Anton Ferdinand will be out of action for the next month with a badly twisted knee.
