Sunderland produced a fantastic 2nd half display to come from a goal down to win at Ewood Park. Christopher Samba had given Blackburn a deserved lead in the first half before Sunderland hit back with goals from Kenwyne Jones and Djibril Cisse to win the game.

The win ends a run of 4 straight defeats for Keane’s man and lifts them from 19th in the table to 11th, although just 4 points seperate the bottom half of the table.

Blackburn were much the better team early on, dominating possession and creating chances. They could of taken the lead when Martin Fulop produced a good save from Morten Gamst Pedersens free kick.

However, as Rovers failed to take advantage of their early dominance, Sunderland played their way back into the game with chances for both Jones and Cisse. Martin Fulop made another good save, this time from a free kick from ex MK Dons star Keith Andrews.

However, as both sides thought they would be going in all square, Samba powered in a header just before the break from Pedersens corner.

Sunderland didn’t take long to respond as Kenwyne Jones equalised just 4 minutes after the restart with a clever overhead kick, despite Rovers keeper Paul Robinson claiming he was impeded in the build up. Sunderlands much improved 2nd half performance was rewarded with another goal in the 71st minute when Steed Malbranque released striker Cisse with a cushioned header, with the striker getting to the ball ahead of the on rushing Robinson to chip the ball over the keeper into the net. The striker then celebrated what was to be the winner by running straight to manager Roy Keane on the dugout as Sunderland hung on for those vital 3 points.
