Sunderland club captain Steve Caldwell is set to make his return from injury.
The Scottish international will start in tomorrow’s behind-closed-doors reserve match at Leeds.
Caldwell has not played since the home loss to Birmingham and is eager to return to the first team picture.
He told club website: ‘I’ll play tomorrow and if everything goes well I hope to be in the squad for Saturday.
‘Three months is a long time to be out and I’m delighted to be training and playing again.
‘The knee feels great, I’ve trained all week and my fitness is improving. If I come through tomorrow, I should be back in the swing of it.’
‘It’s up to me to impress [boss Roy Keane] and show him that I’m worth a place in the side,’.
