Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland is apparently a target for Sunderland in a £1m swoop.

The 18 year-old is currently on-loan with Cheltenham Town where he has kept four clean sheets in eight games so far this campaign.

Butland is an England U21 international and played the full 90 minutes in the 5-0 victory over Iceland’s U21’s last week.

Whether or not an 18 year-old ‘keeper with only League Two experience will really ‘solve’ our goalkeeping issues is highly debatable but as a talent for the future, Butland could be a decent investment if there’s any truth in the story.
