Former Sunderland gaffer Steve Bruce has been offered the vacant manager’s position at Hull City, according to BBC Sport.

Bruce, who has been out of work since leaving the Stadium of Light last November is the front-runner for the position vacated by Nicky Barmby.

The former England winger was sacked by the Hull City owners at the end of the season following comments made in the media about next year’s budget.

The Allam family, who control the Tigers, are believed to have also seriously considered another candidate but have offered the post to the former Birmingham, Wigan, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Huddersfield boss.
