Sunderland have confirmed that Swedish International Seb Larsson and Ireland ‘keeper Keiren Westwood will join the club on July 1st.
The two Bosman free transfers will come as a relief to SAFC fans growing anxious at the lack of signings so far this pre-season.
Larsson, 26, comes with bags of Premier League experience with Birmingham (157 apps, 18 goals) and can take a free kick. Something sorely missed recently at the club.
Goalkeeper, Westwood, also 26, finally makes the leap from the lower leagues having played for Carlisle and Coventry. A big test awaits as he looks to force his way past Craig Gordon and Simon Mignolet to grab the no 1 jersey. He was born in England but is an Irish International, playing several times in place of Shay Given.
The club will now look to tie up further deals before pre-season begins.
