Birmingham City boss, Steve Bruce, has backed Roy Keane and Sunderland to challenge the Blues for the Championship title.

Keane, and his red and white army, are currently on a 4 game unbeaten run and have had 3 impressive wins, most notably a comprehensive 3-0 away win at Leeds and a 2-0 home win versus West Brom.

Bruce reckons Roy Keane is the man the to take Sunderland back to the Premiership. Sunderland ‘s encounter with Birmingham earlier on in the season ended in a 1-0 win to the Blues thanks to a Mikael Forssell penalty.

‘I am not surprised at Roy Keane. Whatever Roy does, he has such a way with him that he will demand the best and take people with him,’ said Bruce.

‘I saw 6,000 people go to Leeds last week to watch Sunderland and they have jumped on the Roy Keane bandwagon. What a difference it is from three weeks ago, when they were being turned over by Bury in the Carling Cup. I don’t think he would have envisaged the start he has had.

‘I watched the game at Leeds with my assistant Eric Black and they were fantastic . I have to say they will be there or thereabouts. He has bought well. David Connolly and Graham Kavanagh are very good, as was Liam Miller, whilst Ross Wallace was somebody we looked at and liked. I wanted him to train with us for a week as I had seen bits and pieces of him. However, Roy knew him from his time at Celtic.’

Yes I would also predict that they are top 6 material. Not so much down to Keane, more the signings and the fear of being shouted at. A new broom always sweeps clean, Quinn was just a softie, while his staff loferred.
