Fabio Borini will take all he has learned at Sunderland to make himself a better player when he returns to Liverpool at the end of the season.

The Italian has been scoring some good goals for Sunderland of late and has already spoken about how he would relish the chance to prove himself in Liverpool’s first team.

Borini has only scored six times in 28 appearances for Gus Poyets men, but they are turning out to be important goals like the one at Wembley and the goal against Newcastle which helped Sunderland thrash them 3-0 on their own patch.

Borini came up with an important goal that forced extra time against Chelsea and then in the semi final of the same cup against United, he netted a penalty.

Borini cost Liverpool ten and a half million from Roma in 2012, but injuries set him back and now he is down the pecking order. But Brendan Rodgers believes that the player’s time on Wearside has done him the power of good.

Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo: “Fabio has got games and scored some very important goals. He got the opportunity to play in a major final at Wembley. All that bodes well for the future.”
