Sunderland striker Fabio Borini is relieved that he has managed to score for the first time since joining Sunderland for a second spell.

The goal is a big thing for Borini even though the Black Cats went down 3-1 at the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The former Liverpool man cost the club £10 million in the summer and came on o try and change the game for Sam Allardyce at half time and this time he was successful in getting off the mark after missing good chances recently against both Arsenal and Watford.

Borini told the Shields Gazette:“Obviously the result is the one that counts, but my first goal is important after all the hard work I`ve done in the past few months and the bad things that happened last season.

“Hopefully this is the first of many.’
