Borini Given Go Ahead To Join Sunderland

Liverpool have agreed to let Fabio Borini come to Sunderland for a fee of £14 million.

Sunderland tabled a second offer for the front man and this time the bid turned the heads of the Scousers, giving them a £3 million profit on their investment which they made just two years ago.

Borini was one of the first signings that Brendan Rodgers made when he took over as manager, he paid Roma £11 million for his services, but he proved to be a flop at Anfield scoring just twice in 20 appearances.

Rodgers then allowed the striker to come to Sunderland last September and he bagged ten goals in a struggling side that reached Wembley for the Capital One Cup Final.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has made no secret of his desire to bring Borini back to Wearside on a permanent basis and overcame the first hurdle last night in agreeing a fee.

Now personal terms will be discussed before the player has a medical.
