Sunderland were beaten by two goals the first coming from El Hadji Diouf and the second a own goal from Darryl Murphy. Bolton who needed a win to all but secure their Premier League future were the better side and deserved their victory.

Bolton started the game the brighter of the two sides with Davies almost heading home from Diouf`s cross.

Sunderland`s best chance in the first half fell to Jones who made the shot himself after going past two defenders to fire hard and hard and low only for the Bolton keeper to be equal to it.

Bolton then got the goal they deserved when El Hadji Diouf curled home after a Nolan cross found him on the edge of the area.

Sunderland played the same at the start of the second half as they did the whole of the first half.

Diouf should have doubled his tally but his header hit the post

Keane made a triple Substitution in a bid to get back in to the game with Murphy, O`Donovan and Leadbitter coming on.

Keanes changes almost worked as Reids cross was narrowly missed by the outstretched leg of Kenwyne Jones.

The result was confirmed when Murphy`s attempted clearance beat Gordon to give Bolton a two goal lead.

Vital Sunderland Says
We were Rubbish with a capital R, I feel too many of the players are thinking about their Holidays than the game. Keane needs to clear the deadwood for next season or we will again struggle next season.
