Bolo And Steeeed Set To Feature

Sunderland will face Man Utd without Cattermole, Meyler, Bramble, Turner, Mensah, Welbeck and Fraizer Campbell. Not the best scenario’s for arriving at Old Trafford but we have surprised many teams this season.

The strength in depth will really be tested over the festive programme and with Zenden having a good season and Malbranque important for his close control they should slot straight back into the action.

Bruce told the Sunderland Echo: ‘We’ve got quite a few players missing through injury, suspension and what have you this weekend, and it means I have few options.

‘Fortunately, I’ve got quality players such as Bolo and Steed to come into the side in this situation.

‘But we can certainly do without any more injuries.

‘Three weeks ago we were doing fine, but in no time at all the picture has changed and we’ve lost a few.

‘Hopefully we can cope and it won’t derail our season.

‘Meyler’s problem isn’t serious. We are just erring on the side of caution. He took a whack on the knee against Fulham.

‘We’ll just give him a bit of time to recover.’
