Sunderland started their preseason tour of Ireland last night against Bohemians.

Kieran Richardson and Paul McShane made their debuts for Sunderland, Richardson in the middle of the park and McShane partnering Nosworthy.

Sunderland started off brightly with Stokes crossing to Murphy only for the young Irish man to miss the header.

Murphy was denied a chance minutes later when he was tackled just as he was about the shoot form the edge of the area. Murphy had done all the hard work easily skinning the Bohemian full back.

Sunderland then almost gifted Bohemians a goal when a Nosworthy’s mistake went unpunished.

Sunderland then won a free kick when Edwards was fouled on edge of the area, Richardson blasted the free kit straight at the wall.

Stokes then had a good chance just before the break but he could only manage to put his shot straight at the keeper.

After the break Chopra missed a golden opportunity after Edwards had teed him up only for him to put his shot over the bar.

Richardson then looked certain to score only for Connolly to get in the way of the shot.

Sunderland finally got the goal they deserved in the 78th minute, Wallace`s cross was headed in by John.

John should have had a second minute`s later, only for him sky his shot.

Richardson (Collins 76)
Stokes (Whitehead 62)
Murphy (Connolly 66)
Chopra (John 73)

In my opinion we are still short on fire power upfront, we create chance after chance but don`t have the killer touch infront of goal.
