Sunderland have been handed a home tie in the first game of the 2010/11 Premier League season.

The Black Cats will host the visit of Steve Bruce’s former club, Birmingham City at the Stadium of Light before travelling to newly promoted West Brom in a tough first few months.

Fans looking for the first Wear-Tyne Derby should look no further than October 30th when the old rivals will resume hostilities at St James’ Park, with the return leg in January.

Sunderland have an away tie on Boxing Day for the first time in nine years, when they travel to Old Trafford to face Man Utd. The Black Cats close the season at Upton Park in May when they face Avram Grant’s West Ham United.
