Sam Allardyce is not saying whether Jermain Defoe has a future at the Stadium of Light or not as the transfer window draws nearer.

According to the Daily Mail, Big Sam is refusing to rule out Defoe being sold in January.

Defoe was on the mark last time out against Crystal Palace when he cooly capitalised on a mistake in the Palace defence to score what proved to be the only goal of the game to give Sunderland their second league victory of the season.

Allardyce has already said that there will be no money available for transfers and the sale of Defoe may give him a few quid to spend in January.

‘At the end of the day, whatever happens, happens,’ said Allardyce to the paper.

‘If I ring an opposition manager or football club and I want one of their players, what determines if that player is available or isn’t available changes day by day.

‘There’s no definite players that we know of going out from here. In terms of a specific player, we don’t know.

‘At this moment in time, we don’t know a definite player who is coming in, because we’re just starting to pull up who we think might be available.’
