Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce says that he has no problem with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of the game at Anfield this weekend.

Big Sam had previously branded the Liverpool boss as a ‘soft German’ after the game against Liverpool at the Stadium of Light on 30th December.

Liverpool won that game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Christian Benteke, but Klopp was left fuming about a tackle maide by Jermain Lens on Mamadou Sakho which did not receive the red card that Klopp wanted.

But Big Sam meant no harm in his comment, he explained to Talksport: “It was more about maybe German football is softer than ours when he said Jeremain Lens should have been sent off.”

During the show, Sam also made comments about Liverpool’s growing injury list at the time and told ITV News: “I made a bit of a comment – which I perhaps shouldn`t have done – which wasn`t directed at him, really.

“You journalists make a big fuss out of what was an honest answer on talkSPORT. (Host) Alan Brazil has apologised to me. When he saw the headlines, he thought they were more ridiculous than me.

“I have no problem. It`s great to see him here, he`s a great character. Obviously on Saturday, I can`t wish him well, but after that, I do.”
