Niall Quinn is set to make a formal offer to takeover Sunderland in the next 48hours, while the big man has requested that St Niall’s Day be postponed.

In relation to the St Niall’s Day celebration, the Save Our Sunderland group recieved a message from one of Quinn’s party who requested that the organised Irish themed celebration not go ahead. The statement read,

‘Niall fully appreciates what the Save Our Sunderland supporters group want to do on Monday, and genuinely appreciates their support.

‘However, at this stage, Niall would prefer Monday to be a celebration of the club and its supporters rather than any of celebration of himself. Niall stresses he does not want this to be taken in any way as a sign of ingratitude to the club’s supporters.’

With the Guardian revealing that an official bid from Quinn is imminent, it might not be long before we can have an official St Niall’s Day party. Keep your fingers crossed folks!

I’m sure the supporters are looking forward to it, but i hope that he has plenty to invest once he has bought the club. Can only be a good move though IMHO.
