Bentys Big Day

Graz, Austria, 1:15pm, Sunday 30th May. The moment of truth for a certain Mr. D. Bent.

That’s what it boils down to for our 25 goal striker today after England coach Fabio Capello decided to hand him a start alongside Wayne Rooney in England’s final warm up Vs. Japan before heading to South Africa.

Bent shrugged off an injury which kept him out of the Wembley win over Mexico and his World Cup dream looked all but over until todays news. He must surely score or put in a blinding effort to book his ticket ahead of Jermaine Defoe or Emile Heskey.

The absence of Emile Heskey in the starting line up of both games could be telling here and as well as Defoes poor form, represents a glimmer of hope for the former Spurs man.

Check back here for updates and reaction from England Vs. Japan tomorrow.

Good luck Darren!!

All the best Darren, it is hard to prove yourself to a manager and a nation in only 45 mins but if anyone can do it Mr D Bent can do it!!! Good luck and bang in a few son!

I don’t think its a life line, he is a certainty, what DB needs is supply from the midfield, he gets that he will do well, if he has to go looking for the ball, then it is the midfielders that should worry about their places.
